PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS

Are there any requirements to register, such as prerequisite experience or educational requirements?

There are no prerequisites to participate in this program, but the program is best suited for professionals with experience in corporate L&D at the manager level or above. When you complete the Training Industry Senior Leaders Program, you’ll gain the advanced capabilities, business fluency and leadership presence needed to run a high-impact learning function aligned with enterprise strategy.

Who should complete this program?
This course is ideal for high-potential L&D professionals looking to expand their impact and influence, senior L&D leaders (e.g., training managers, directors, etc.) preparing for executive roles or current CLOs, chief talent officers and vice presidents of learning, talent development or training and development. If you need help determining if this course is right for you, schedule a free consultation here.
Do I need to apply or be accepted into the program?
No formal application is required. If you’re an experienced L&D professional aiming to expand your leadership impact, you can register directly for the program. If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, we recommend scheduling a call with one of our professional development directors to talk through your goals.
How is the Training Industry Senior Leaders Program different from other executive certificates?
This program goes beyond L&D best practices and academic theory. It’s designed to position you as a strategic business partner leading a core business function. It’s founded in Training Industry’s Senior L&D Leader Competency Model™ and challenges you to apply concepts through practice, applied exercises and a high-fidelity business simulation.
How is the Training Industry Senior Leaders Program different than CPTM?
Both programs advance your career as an L&D professional, with different focuses depending on your goals. The Training Industry Senior Leaders Program targets executive-level job roles and responsibilities, while the Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM™) program focuses specifically on the training manager role. Explore the key differences and example scenarios in this guide to compare the programs.
What is the Training Industry Senior Leaders Program based on? Is it accredited?
The Senior Leaders Program is grounded in Training Industry’s Senior L&D Leader Competency Model™, which defines the capabilities required for success at the executive level in L&D. While the program is not externally accredited, Training Industry is an internationally recognized education provider and a recertification partner for several leading L&D certifications. Participation in the program counts toward recertification credit for many credentials, including SHRM and ATD certifications.
How far in advance of the cohort date can I register?
Registration is available any time for the next cohort, pending available seats. We recommend registering at least three weeks in advance so that you have time to prepare for the program and block off your calendar to participate in the live discussions.
What happens if I need to withdraw from the program? Is a refund available?
We understand that plans can change. While we don’t typically offer refunds once course materials have been accessed, we can offer a credit for the full amount paid, valid for up to one year. This credit can be applied toward a future cohort or another Training Industry course. If you need to discuss your situation, please contact us directly and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Do you offer financial assistance?
We offer discounts for military, government and nonprofit businesses. To find out if you are eligible for a discount, please contact us so we can help.

ABOUT THE CURRICULUM

How long will it take to complete the program?
Plan for 1-3 hours of prework each week, followed by a live session every two weeks. Modules are released sequentially and support paced, applied learning. The entire program takes five months to complete.
When will I be able to access each module?
Every two weeks, you will receive access to the next module, such that you will gain access to the readings, assignments, discussions and other activities for each module immediately following the completion of the live session associated with the previous module. When you register, you’ll be enrolled in Training Industry’s collaborative LMS, powered by Intrepid, where you’ll gain access to the Module 1 materials and can introduce yourself to your peers.
Are there any tests that I must pass to earn the certificate?
No. You will complete assessments, polls and quizzes as part of your prework to prepare for the live, virtual session, but earning your certificate is not contingent upon your performance on any one assessment. Instead, you’ll receive points throughout your experience designed to gauge your interaction with materials and within the program. You’ll need to have completed at least 70% of the prework and attended at least 8 of the live sessions, including the kickoff and at least one round of the business simulation debriefs, to successfully receive your certificate.
What happens if I have to miss a session? Will the sessions be recorded?
To get the most out of the program, you should plan to attend all live sessions. Sessions are not recorded due to the interactive and confidential nature of the discussions. Participants who miss more than two sessions will not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion. If you anticipate any scheduling conflicts, please contact us to discuss your options.
What kind of support will I receive during the program?
Throughout the program, you’ll be supported by an expert facilitator, a dedicated course team, and your executive-level peers. You’ll have access to the learning platform for discussions, assignments, and resources, as well as opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback during live sessions. If you need help outside of session times, our team is available to assist.
Will I be able to connect with other participants outside of live sessions?
Yes. You’ll have access to a collaborative learning platform where you can engage with your cohort between sessions through discussion boards, peer feedback, and group activities. We also encourage ongoing networking beyond the program, helping you build lasting relationships with fellow senior L&D leaders.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS SIMULATION EXPERIENCE

What is the business simulation like?
The capstone is a multi-round business simulation powered by Advantexe that you will access via your computer. You’ll work through real-time decision-making scenarios that mirror the challenges of leading a learning function. The simulation is team-based, and while there’s no pass/fail, you’ll receive feedback and guided debriefs to reinforce your learning.
What are the technical requirements for participating in the simulation?
To participate in the business simulation, you’ll need a desktop or laptop with a stable broadband connection (at least three Mbps) and an updated web browser (we recommend Chrome, but Safari and Firefox are also supported). Be sure that JavaScript, cookies and local storage are enabled. A computer with at least a 2.0 GHz processor and four GB of memory is recommended, though most modern laptops meet or exceed these specifications.

No downloads or special software are required — the simulation is fully web based and works within most corporate IT environments. For the best experience during sessions and debriefs, we recommend using headphones in a quiet workspace.

Will I complete the simulation alone or with a team?
You’ll complete the simulation as part of a team, working collaboratively to make strategic decisions and analyze business outcomes. This team-based experience reflects the real-world dynamics of executive leadership and offers valuable opportunities to build alignment, practice influence, and learn from your peers in a risk-free environment.
What if I don’t pass the simulation?
There’s no pass/fail in the business simulation; however, you are required to attend the kickoff and at least one round of the business simulation debriefs to earn your certificate. The goal is to practice applying strategic, financial and operational concepts in a realistic environment — not to be graded. You’ll receive guided feedback after each round to help you reflect, adjust, and grow. It’s a safe space to experiment, learn from your team and build the confidence to lead at the executive level.

OTHER

What does the program cost?
The program is $7,995 USD, which covers all course materials, interactive business simulation and the cost of enrollment. Prices are listed in USD, but the course can be purchased in any currency. Please note, an additional transaction currency fee may apply depending on your payment method. If you’d like to see the price in your local currency, please visit our store.
What happens after the program ends and what will I receive?
Before the program, you will receive access to the course LMS. Throughout the program, you’ll receive access to materials, activities, templates and decision-making tools as each module becomes available in the LMS. Upon course completion, you will also be awarded a certificate of achievement and a digital badge to designate your expertise in executive-level L&D with your network on social media. There will also be additional opportunities to continue supporting your growth, including an optional in-person gathering at our annual conference and ongoing virtual networking through a private group forum.
Does this program count toward recertification credit?
Yes. When you complete this program, you’ll earn credit hours (CEUs) toward leading HR and training certifications. Learn how Training Industry Certificates can help you earn recertification credits for leading human resources (HR) and training certifications.
